Rubbish Friends

Rubbish Friends Clifford Chambers is an off-shoot of a Stratford group set up by a band of volunteers who were fed up of seeing litter around the town and decided to do something about it.

Clair Tribe spotted the group on Facebook and, inspired by the name and the cause, decided to find out more. She has since become a trustee of the Stratford group and has set up her own branch in Clifford.

Volunteers have met and, with support from the New Inn who has paid for litter picking equipment, 20 volunteers collected more than 13 black bags of rubbish in their first two sessions.

“This was all collected from the hedgerows, kerbsides, ditches, grass verges and the islands at the top of the village,” said Clair. “This is not only a great thing to be involved with for our environment but it is fun, healthy, sociable and it’s always good to take action on something that needs addressing.”

Look out on this website, on Clifford Chambers Chatter (Facebook), or on the village noticeboards for notification of the next Rubbish Friends pick.
