With the demise of the Women’s Institute a parish meeting was called to consider its replacement and the lovely and late Jeff Dench came up with Chamford – a mix of Clifford and Chambers.
It was decided that the committee would sit for six months at a time so that the role wasn’t too onerous. There are no meetings in January and August and meals are organised to celebrate harvest and Christmas. There is an annual membership fee (£10) although guests can pay per visit. Speakers are invited and local outings are also arranged. All are welcome and most meetings are held in the village hall on the first Wednesday of the month starting at 7.45pm.
