Join a walk for Julia

Women around the world are taking part in a co-ordinated dog walk this weekend to pay their respects to murdered community police officer Julia James.

Clifford women are invited to meet in The Square at 10am on Sunday – with or without dogs – for approximately an hour-long walk.

“Julia was a daughter, a mum, a wife, a community giver and a dog lover,” said Sally-Anne Bedford, from Cheshire, who came up with the idea for the walk. “There is so much we can relate to. This is a peaceful walk in her memory, not a protest.”

Clifford’s Ann Simons said: “Many of us feel free and safe to walk our dogs on our own. This feels like an appropriate way to pay respects and remember Julia and her family.”

Around 1000 women are expected to take part across the UK, Australia and New Zealand.
